1 Post-Doctoral position in maize genetics available at the University of Milan from July 2016
The proposal is made in the frame of the international CERES scheme FLORIMAIZE (Role of florigen proteins in maize developmental reprogramming under drought stress Project FC ID 2013-1889; AF ID 1301-006) jointly funded by Agropolis Fondation and Fondazione Cariplo. FLORIMAIZE is a collaboration between groups in Milan (Italy, lab of Chiara Tonelli), Montpellier (France, lab of Francois Tardieu)) and Machakos (Kenya). The goal of this project is to identify the role of florigen genes in the genetic variability of growth maintenance and flowering time in maize under physiological and water stress conditions. The successful post- doc will combine high throughput phenotyping approaches with transcript analysis to identify flowering QTLs and Florigen eQTLs in a panel of maize lines grown under different watering scenarios. The successful candidate will be based at the University of Milan, Department of Biosciences. She/He holds a PhD and a proven track record of publications. Previous experiences in quantitative and molecular genetics as well as plant physiology are highly desirable. Excellent knowledge of the English language (spoken and written) and ability to work in a team and independently is mandatory. The position is aimed at being full-timeand appointment will be on a temporary basis for an initial period of 12 months. For informal enquiries about this post please contact Lucio Conti (lucio.conti@unimi.it).
