We are looking for highly motivated PhD candidates to join our research group at the University of Udine and Istituto di Genomica Applicata (IGA, a state-of-the-art research center focused on plant genomics), in Udine, Italy, in the framework of the Joint PhD programme in molecular biology (http://phdjumbo.sissa.it/ ) promoted by SISSA, ICGEB, University of Udine, and University of Trieste.
The PhD project will be focused on the identification and characterization of regulatory regions and variants using a combination of chromatin conformation analysis (Hi-C), accessibility assays (ATAC-seq), analysis of epigenetic signatures (cytosine methylation and histone modifications), and genome wide association scan of eQTL (genetical genomics) within the frame of an ERC funded project.
The successful candidates will be part of a research team that is composed of about 20 people and actively participates in several international sequencing projects, and will work on the analysis of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data. Candidates with excellent academic record and strong quantitative skills are encouraged to apply.
Applications should be submitted online (http://phdjumbo.sissa.it/admission-exam-2017-and-phd-program).
Closing date for applications is September 11, 2017.
Interested candidates can send informal enquiries to Michele Morgante (michele.morgante@uniud.it) and Fabio Marroni (fabio.marroni@uniud.it).
